Snail Card

Here’s a clever little card suitable for any age or gender. It has been made into a Get Well Card on this occasion but could just as well be a birthday or congratulations card.

You will need the following: -

  • A6 card in green basket weave.

  • Scraps of green, yellow and white card.

  • Piece of green spinneweb paper 7 x 16cm

  • Greeting, plus border and corner peel offs

  • FRCL306 Nature Fun clear stamp set.

  • Black pigment ink

  • Clear embossing powder

  • Brown dye ink

  • 2 goggle eyes

  • Collall glue

  • PVA glue

  • 1mm double-sided sticky pads

  1. Wrap the spinneweb paper around the fold of the card and stick with double-sided tape along the two long edges. The spinneweb will overlap the top and bottom edges but it’s easier to trim once it’s stuck onto the card. Put a border peel off down each long edge to tidy.

  2. Emboss the snail twice with black ink and clear powder.

  3. Cut out one complete image (Top tip: cut around the top of the eyes but not in-between) and the shell from the other image.

  4. Colour both images and layer the shell onto the whole image with pads.

  5. Cut a 5cm square of white card, a 6cm square of yellow card and a 7cm square of green card and layer these pieces up. Attach a peel-off to the outside corners and a greeting to the top left hand side of the white square.

  6. Attach the snail to this piece with pads.

  7. Attach this whole piece overlapping the green spinneweb slightly as shown with pads.

  8. Stamp the mushroom with brown ink and with a wet paintbrush drag some colour out to shade it. Cut roughly around it and attach to the bottom right-hand side of the card.

  9. Finally attach the goggle eyes with PVA glue.

Hey presto – all done! We made this card in one of our workshops and everyone seemed to like it so I hope you do too!
