Dashing Through The Snow Card
This, our last Christmas card of the year, is one of Robin’s all time favourites. We made this in our Christmas Card Workshop and everyone fell in love with it. It is a very sophisticated card and although it takes some time to make I think it is well worth the extra effort. We have made our own background paper using the sleigh stamp from the stamp set and some coloured inks. When I make my own background paper I usually make a full A4 sheet and store the remainder for future use. It doesn’t take very much longer to make the whole sheet and it’s lovely to have a selection of papers to use at a future date. Good Luck with the project.

You will need the following:-
|
-
Fold the turquoise card in half to form an A5 Card.
-
Using the border bar & tool emboss a fancy edge along the right hand side of the card. Cut off the excess card.
-
Using the long piece of green card cut a scalloped edge along one long side and attach to the inside of the card on the right hand side with the straight edge against the straight edge.
-
Using the piece of pearlescent paper and the sleigh, stamp randomly across the piece with VersaMark ink and emboss with silver. Next, with a round sponge, dab areas of colour in green and then blue inks to make the background paper strip.
-
Attach the strip to the centre front of the card and put a peel off line down each side. If the line is not long enough you can cheat by leaving a gap where the topper will be.
-
Stamp the reindeer on the 10 x 11cm white card with the VersaMark pigment ink and emboss with silver powder. Stamp and emboss again onto the scrap of card. For the last image you only need the body and head (not the legs and antlers).
-
Cut around the square of the first image with the scalloped scissors.
-
Shade the image using the turquoise ink and the sponge from the outside in, leaving the actual image on the white background. Watch point - Be very careful when you do this as too much ink doesn’t look as good it should be very light.
-
Using the turquoise ink dabbed onto a tile and a water brush, paint the antlers on the first image and the body and head on the second image. (I stamped some dots onto the reindeer’s back with the turquoise ink first.) Cut around the second image cutting straight across the top of the head and just the body (no legs).
-
Mount the first image onto the silver card leaving a small border all around using double sided tape.
-
Mount the whole thing with 2mm pads onto the front of the card as shown.
-
Mount the smaller image onto the first one with 1mm pads
-
Punch or cut a circle from the shrink plastic, (be sure to sand the plastic as described on the packet). Stamp “Dashing through the snow” onto the plastic with the StazOn ink, punch a 5mm hole and then shrink using the heat gun. Don’t punch the hole too near the edge; you need to do it about 1.5cm in from the edge. If you haven’t used shrink plastic before don’t panic when it starts to move and curl just remove the heat from it until it settles. Once fully shrunk, finish by placing an acrylic block or wooden block on top of the disc to flatten it. Stamp the small snowflake with StazOn ink onto the front.
-
Stick the Seasons Greeting sticker onto the small piece of green card and mount that onto a silver piece leaving a small border all around.
-
Stick this greeting onto the card as shown using 2mm pads.
-
Using silver thread, attach the circle to the bow and stick onto the front with a glue dot as shown. The disc should be able to swing.
-
Finally stick a silver gem or pearl at the end of each antler.
