Cool Dude
Well, temperatures are gradually rising, though the evenings seem to remain cool but at last the weather seems to be settling into a summer pattern. Although a lot of you may have visitors, it is still nice to take some time out for yourself and do a little crafting.
Most of our crafters say they have trouble thinking of ideas for cards for men so we usually have at least one card in our workshops specifically designed with men in mind. Teenage Boys can also be a problem, well, making cards for them can be! So with that thought this month we are using a delightful set of boy stamps designed for Woodware by Françoise Reed who you may have noticed by now is one of my favourites. In my opinion, she seems to produce very versatile stamp sets that enable you to create a multitude of cards thus making them very cost effective. This card is quite quick and easy to make and is a useful card to have in your stock box. Anyway let’s get crafting and make this month’s project.

You will need the following:-
|
-
Cut a piece of burgundy card 6cm x 14cm to fit across the card. Stick this onto the front of the card with Collall glue as shown.
-
Next cut the piece of patterned paper with fancy scissors and stick on top leaving a small border.
-
Stamp and emboss the boy in the chair plus the words onto the white card. Shade the edges of the card using a sponge dauber and the orange dye inkpad and then colour in the picture with whatever medium you prefer. I have used Marvey inkpads – brown, yellow, orange and blue. To use them as water paints just dab them onto a non-porous surface like a tile or an acrylic block and pick up the colour with a wet paintbrush. I like this method of colouring as you can get a very soft effect.
-
Mount this onto a piece of burgundy card leaving a small border.
-
Attach to the cream card, as shown, with foam pads
-
Place the greetings sticker onto burgundy card and cut around leaving a small border then attach to the top centre of the card using foam pads.
-
Stamp and emboss the skateboard. Colour and cut out then attach to front of card as shown with double sided pads.
Hey Presto – you’re done. I’m sure most teenagers will find this card a pleasant change from countryside scenes or sports cards.
If you have any difficulty with this or any other project, please come along to our shop where you can view the completed card together with other samples made with the same stamp set to give you further inspiration. We will do our best to help you and advice is free.
